How to Add Plugins to Your Minecraft Server.

With your server from NitroNode, you can easily add plugins with just a few simple steps. You are able to add any plugin that your heart desires as long as it is supported by your server’s version. There are two different ways to add plugins to your Minecraft server, both are very easy to do.  You want to first make sure that your server is running some form of Bukkit, such as Paper or Spigot. You can select this at checkout or from the server's control panel using the JAR selector dropdown menu.

**You will not be able to add plugins to a modded server using a Forge Jar file, you will need to use Cauldron which is a fork of Forge**

Installing through the Multicraft panel.
  • Now that you have made sure you are running Bukkit (Spigot, Paper, or a Bukkit fork) you will need to download a plugin you want to add to your server. Spigot or Bukkit is a good place to start looking.
  • After you download the plugins you want, head over to the left of the panel to find the “Files” tab.
  • Once you click on the “Files” tab, navigate to “FTP File Access”.
  • Here you will want to use the Multicraft password that was given to you by email to login.
  • Once you get logged in you want to go to your plugins directory, if you do not have one you can make one by clicking “New Directory” at the top of the page and naming it “plugins”.
    • Now all you have to do is to upload the plugin jar to the plugin into the folder and restart your server.
  • To check if the plugin was successfully installed you can type “pl” into console or “/pl” in-game.
Installing through an FTP Client.
  • The first thing you will need to do is download and set up your FTP Client - such as FileZilla.
  • Now that you have made sure you are running Bukkit (Spigot, Paper, or a Bukkit fork) you will need to download a plugin you want to add to your server. Spigot or Bukkit is a good place to start looking.
  • Once you have connected to your server you want to find your “plugins” folder, there you will drag & drop in the plugins that you have downloaded.
  • Lastly, restart your server from the Panel and run “pl” in the console or “/pl” in-game to check if the plugins were installed successfully.

When you run the command “/pl” in-game it will show a list of all of your plugins. They will either be green or red. If the plugin is green then you are ready to start developing! If it is red there was an issue while trying to load the plugin, you will have to check console logs for more information on how to fix it. The most common problem is a version incompatibility issue.
